Doha, Qatar – 21 October 2026: Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) hosted the 9th Annual One Planet Sovereign Wealth Funds (OPSWF) CEO Summit in Doha on October 20-21, 2026, in the attendance of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, and His Excellency President Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic.
Alongside them, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and senior dignitaries and leaders from sovereign wealth funds and global investment institutions, including H.E. Sheikh Saoud Salem Abdulaziz Alsabah, Managing Director of Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) and H.E. Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Governor of PIF.
The two-day summit convened leaders to advance dialogue and collaboration around long-term, responsible investment and the creation of value for future generations.
Hosted under the theme of Intergenerational Capital, the Summit provided a forum for the world’s leading long-term investors to exchange perspectives on the structural forces shaping the global investment landscape and consider how institutional capital can continue to generate sustainable value across generations.
Topics addressed included financial innovation, managing physical climate risks and investing in nature, and how the global investment community is balancing the implications of technological innovation with sustainability.
Hosted at the Rosewood Doha hotel, the two-day summit culminated in commitments to deepen cooperation around sustainable value creation from participating sovereign wealth funds, asset managers and private equity partners.
Guests were further invited for private, behind-the-scenes tours of Hamad International Airport and Doha’s Msheireb district to showcase how both entities are committed to sustainable design and implementing world-leading business practices.
His Excellency President Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, said: “When we launched the One Planet initiative in 2017, my conviction was clear: finance needs to be part of the solution to climate change. Nearly a decade later, this conviction is more relevant than ever. The One Planet Sovereign Wealth Fund coalition now gathers 51 world-leading institutions. I welcome the continued commitment of the OPSWF and of sovereign wealth funds to aligning financial flows with our climate goals. France will continue to strongly support this ambition.”
"QIA is proud to be a founding member of OPSWF. Hosting this summit, under the theme of Intergenerational Wealth, speaks to the core of our noble mission to protect and steward Qatar’s capital for future generation,” said Mohammed Saif Al-Sowaidi, CEO of QIA . “As technological advances, evolving energy systems, demographic shifts, and geopolitical uncertainty reshape the investment landscape, climate considerations remain central to how we assess resilience and value of assets over decades.”
As a founding partner of the One Planet Sovereign Wealth Fund initiative in 2017, QIA has worked alongside its global peers to advance the integration of climate-related considerations into long-term investment decision-making. Convening global peers for this year’s Summit in Doha reflects QIA’s continued commitment to responsible investment and reinforces Qatar’s growing role as a platform for dialogue and partnership among global investors.
